Paid-on-Call Firefighters
The Lakeville Fire Department is looking for responsible, compassionate individuals who value community service and are interested in a rewarding career. No prior experience in fire is necessary to apply. LFD’s Paid-on-Call Firefighters are responsible for providing skilled fire suppression work and safe and effective operation of fire apparatus.
Qualifications
Paid-on-Call Firefighters must reside within a two (2)-mile radius of a Lakeville Fire Station. Review our station boundaries here (PDF).
Candidates must also meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 18 years of age on appointment date
- Must possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license
- Must pass required background check, written test and medical, fitness and psychological assessments
Recruitment Process
Candidates must apply online during the recruitment period. Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend an informational meeting, which provides an opportunity for you to learn more about the Lakeville Fire Department and the responsibilities of a Paid-on-Call Firefighter.
Candidates are required to complete a written test, which evaluates general knowledge of competencies as it relates to the position. A physical agility test is also required, which measures a candidate’s physical abilities.
Following the successful completion of the written and physical agility tests, candidates will be invited to interviews. Candidates selected for the position must pass pre-employment testing to include a background check, medical examination and psychological assessment.
