The Planning Department oversees Lakeville's short- and long-term land use, zoning, and residential development activities. The City's Comprehensive Land Use Plan, zoning and subdivision ordinances are used by the department to ensure that development in Lakeville meets the goals and objectives established by the City Council.
The Planning Commission serves as the planning agency for the City of Lakeville. The commission, whose members are appointed by the City Council, holds required public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on issues involving the establishment of and compliance with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the zoning, subdivision and sign ordinances.
